Hair Fiber Tattoo is an innovative procedure in which pigment is implanted into the scalp to replicate hair follicles.

Different from traditional Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), which is designed to cover up Male Pattern Baldness and usually requires shaving the hair off, our Hair Fiber Tattoo is a natural-looking alternative for men and women with thinning hair that does NOT require clients to shave their head. This tattoo almost looks like hair fibers, giving the illusion of fuller hair for those areas of the head where hair still grows but is thinning. This procedure lasts 1-2 years, making it much less upkeep than hair pieces or topical products.

What’s the difference between Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) and the Hair Fiber Tattoo?

Both procedures involve implanting pigment into the skin, so they are both considered cosmetic tattooing. However, SMP is done with a different machine that implants pigment one dot at a time. Each dot is meant to resemble a single hair follicle and therefore it typically takes a significantly longer amount of time to complete the service. SMP also requires clients to shave their heads close to the scalp in order for the “dots” of pigment to blend in with the buzzed hair so that it blends well. This service is best for clients with significant hair loss or who are already completely bald in some areas.

The Hair Fiber Tattoo is done with a machine that deposits ink into the skin much faster, so a large area can be covered much more quickly than SMP. This is designed to add density to areas where hair is thinning but looks best when there is still at least 60% of the hair still growing in the area. It creates tiny “specks” of color that help fill in the gaps between the client’s existing hair follicles to create a fuller look.
